The College of Business has asked several members of our College community to reflect on the historic crossroads and our responsibility as a College of Business to act and create opportunity—accelerating economic equity and social justice. We invite you to hear their thoughts and to join us as we reaffirm our efforts towards a more just and equal society.

Venture Connectors was pleased to host our first virtual meeting in June! Speakers Nick Campisano of Campisano Capital and Stacy Griggs of El Toro shared about their roles in the Gateway to NuLu building in the booming East Market Street corridor. Campisano discussed the why, what and where of investing in a mixed-use property, and Griggs talked about the growth of El Toro and his decision to locate his company's headquarters in this exciting new tech hub.

Campisano spent six years in investment banking in New York City prior to founding Campisano Capital. As managing partner and CEO, he is focused on all major industries, but developed an interest in real estate through working on distressed real estate buyouts that required significant construction attention or suffered from construction-related issues.

Campisano is passionate about architecture and interior design, and aside from his knowledge of finance and construction, his ability to curate the aesthetic of properties and ensure the construction supports that vision is the most fundamental competency of Campisano Capital. His previous experience includes Moelis & Co., MD Global Partners, KeyBanc Capital Markets, the Federal Communications Commission and Regent Investment Management. He received his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Duke University.

Griggs is CEO of El Toro, an innovator of advertising technology (AdTech) and advanced analytics by using its patented processes to map physical addresses to IP addresses as well as mapping mobile devices to past locations. This enables brands to hyper-accurately target digital advertisements to consumers or businesses. In 2017, Deloitte named El Toro the 13th fastest growing tech company in the United States with a three-year growth rate of 12,032 percent.

Griggs and his business partner were selected as the 2016 E&Y Entrepreneurs of the Year for the Ohio Valley. Previously, he helped lead MaximumASP, Hosting.com and Diamond Technologies. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Simpsonville Rural Fire District in Shelby County.
